Past Loves Refrain

The night becomes you darling,
Darkness, conceals your face.
And cloaks, the wrinkled visage,
Botox, cannot erase.

Less ‘Physical’ pull, between us.
Our magnets tug - decayed..
Skin, Flesh and Blood found guilty.
By passing time, betrayed.

We no longer dwell, upon the shell,
That secretes, increasing pain.
Rather, in our minds, re-live the joys,
Of past loves’, sweet refrain!

  1. Hi John,
Your poem leaves a resolved emotion for the passing of time and the sweet feelings of touching one another with love. I was happy to read that in your mind you relive the joys of past loves', sweet refrain. I use Botox to keep my face the same for my husband so that in the here and now will keep my face looking the same as in the past. Love still entangles us in the night as I lay smiling in the depths of the nights darkness in his arms I lay.
